This is my last work for the Nvart challenge,, i didn't want to make just a city in a landscape, i tried to imagine a story for it. My inspirations are futuristic buildings and the old westerns.
The scene take place in part of the city where is an arena of justice, there's two characters that represents two families. They are going to have a duel to resolve the problem and the judgement. More the family has money, more the duelist is talented. But who's gonna win ?
a lost temple in the mountain, there's a lot of references for this picture (Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, 300....). My goal was to improve my technique of sculpting moutain's details and textures them in Zbrush. A lot of polygon, i've tested the limits of my computer..hem..it's still alive.
I used Xsi and mental ray for lighting and rendering, photoshop was used to create various brushes for the modeling and texturing in Zbrush.

Matte painting : The forgotten city

hi all,
this is my first matte/painting, mixing 2d (photos & painting) with 3d elements. I put it in the 3d section because the most of the time has been past on the modeling/texturing/lighting of the city.

I try to make an ambience of mystery about a forgotten city on the japan coast, with a quiet sea and mist.

I've made a making of this work, you can find it here :
